Plex CMMC Compliance

The StratoKey Cloud Data Protection (CDP) Platform provides manufacturers with the technical controls necessary to utilize the Plex Smart Manufacturing Platform in accordance with Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements. Organizations can protect CUI and FCI with data tokenization to store regulated data in a FedRAMP-authorized environment under their control.

By providing data tokenization, FIPS 140-3 validated encryption, monitoring, and policy enforcement, StratoKey helps manufacturers align Plex deployments with NIST SP 800-171 and NIST SP 800-53, safeguard sensitive data, reduce compliance scope, and maintain operational continuity.

StratoKey provides data protection products that help organizations satisfy specific NIST SP 800-171 controls and store regulated data on-premises or in their FedRAMP-authorized environment. It is not a C3PAO and does not provide CMMC compliance advice. For advice, assessment and certification, consult an accredited C3PAO via the Cyber AB Marketplace.

Meet Your Plex CMMC Compliance Requirements

Plex is a powerful MES and ERP platform by Rockwell Automation®, but because it is not FedRAMP authorized, it creates compliance gaps for organizations working with CUI and FCI. Under CMMC, prime contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers must ensure that every cloud service provider (CSP) they rely on meets strict security standards. If Plex is in your workflow, those compliance gaps flow directly to you.

This is why we built the StratoKey CDP integration with Plex, to make CMMC compliance achievable without giving up the platform you rely on.

FedRAMP Storage for Plex CUI

Under CMMC, any cloud service provider (CSP) handling CUI must be  FedRAMP Moderate Authorized or meet an equivalent baseline. Since Plex is not FedRAMP authorized, the solution is to remove CUI from Plex and replace it with tokens. StratoKey’s tokenization capability makes this possible by storing the original data securely in your FedRAMP-authorized environment.

  • Store CUI destined for Plex on-premises or in your FedRAMP-authorized environment such as Microsoft Azure Government, GCC High or AWS GovCloud,.
  • Reduces scope of compliance by completely removing CUI from Plex.
  • Supports data residency and sovereignty whilst continuing to use Plex, by storing sensitive data in specific, controlled environments.
  • Maintain secure handling of sensitive data while Plex delivers full operational performance.

The StratoKey Tokenization Engine for Plex FedRAMP Storage

StratoKey’s tokenization engine keeps Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) out of Plex by extracting it before transmission. The original CUI is securely stored in an encrypted vault within your infrastructure, such as a FedRAMP-authorized environment such as Azure Government or AWS GovCloud. Plex only receives non-sensitive tokens, which it processes as if they were the real data. This ensures sensitive data never resides in Plex, helping organizations meet CMMC compliance requirements by minimizing exposure and keeping regulated data fully under their control.

StratoKey is Your Plex Compatible Cloud Data Protection Stack for CMMC Compliance

The StratoKey CDP platform goes beyond encryption and tokenization, delivering a full set of layered security controls. These capabilities help organizations address a broad range of CMMC requirements in Plex, not just a limited subset.

Encryption & Tokenization for Plex

Secures FCI and CUI using FIPS-validated encryption or tokenization for fields and files before data leaves your control. Does not disrupt Plex workflows.

Audit Trail of CUI Access in Plex

StratoKey logs user interactions with CUI and FCI in Plex. This supports audit and reporting requirements and can help with rapid incident response.

Control Access to FCI and CUI in Plex

StratoKey provides strong user identification, granular permissions, group-based policies, and advanced authentication to ensure that only authorized users can access CUI and FCI.

Monitoring & Policy Enforcement

Provides real-time analytics, monitoring, and instant policy enforcement to identify and block unauthorized access or misuse of CUI and FCI.

NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-171 Controls for Plex

StratoKey is a comprehensive security platform that helps organizations implement NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-171 controls when using Plex. Through FIPS 140-3 validated encryption, StratoKey secures CUI and FCI, and governs user access. Combined with real-time monitoring, security analytics, and policy enforcement, StratoKey enables manufacturers to align Plex deployments with key NIST requirements and strengthen compliance with CMMC.

Plex Integration Features for CMMC Compliance

StratoKey enables CMMC compliance for Plex by securing sensitive data and enforcing strict security controls across the platform. These features ensure that only authorized users can access CMMC-regulated information while maintaining visibility and accountability.
